IMMIGRATION CASES – UPDATE
Posted Aug 19, 13:39
As mentioned last month in the ‘Good News’emailJosie Pasane, of Broughty Ferry New Kirk, has now been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK This means that she is now free of the dreadful threat of being deported back to South Africa and thus separated from her mother and sister.
This successful outcome may not have come to pass had in not been for the work of the minister and congregation at Broughty Ferry, whose petition and other high-profile campaigning kept this case in the public eye.
The Gul family, Christians of Pakistani origin who were regulars at Carnwadric Church, Glasgow, have now been released from detention. They were set to be removed back to Pakistan until an 11thhour decision to hear their appeal allowed them to stay in the UK. However, the fight is not over for the Guls, and their final immigration appeal is not due to be heard until later in the year.
